I have to admit I have a girl crush on Bat For Lashes British singer/ songwriter, multi- instrumentalist and visual artist Natasha Khan - she' s amazingly talented, wears headdresses with vintage gowns and is uber cool. Did I just use the word "uber"? Okaaayyyy....Anyway Bat For Lashes is playing in town tonight !

Sonic Youth

Sorry, this is a late post - I have been out of town for the last week, but Friday July 20th I got to see one of the most amazing concerts ever. SONIC YOUTH PERFORMING DAYDREAM NATION + REDD KROSS at the greek theater! F*ck Yeah
We got to the concert a little early and we were able to take advantage of the Red Kross set. You might remember these pop duo brothers from their nineties rock antics in Los Angeles. Jeff McDonald and Steven McDonald are recording again and that sounded great. Kim, Thurston and a young lady that look suspiciously like their daughter came out and enjoyed the Red Kross set with a glass of wine and some good old head shaking. Security guards tried to get them to move out of the way and I thought it was utterly cute how they tried to explain that they were the next band going on ...Kim and Thurston...YOU RULE!

After the Red Kross set, the sun went down and Sonic Youth took the stage. I was transported back 19 years and rocked out with abandon to Kim's bass lines. I know her daughter must think it so surreal to see her mom up on stage shimming in a gold mini dress - I loved it. ROCK ON KIM - LOVE YOU !

Tomorrow night - Boogie Nights will be shown in the parking lot behind the original location of the Hot Traxx Disco. An after-party will be at the Kessab Banquet Hall where there will be a display housing the enormous schlong that Mark Wahlberg wore during the film's final reveal. Foot-long hot dogs will be on sale during the screening .
