Ruby Rue

Ever like just lay on your bed eating frosted flakes out of the box and wish someone would just tell you what to do because it just takes too much energy to look up stuff, like, online and in papers?

Dinner for tonight !

This is total Bullshit - Every time I invent something, I google it and some other bored out of her mind house wife from Boise has already thought of it. Since this is such a good idea ….I will go ahead and post the article for your enjoyment and future soiree!

Nothing says party like ….Dum-da-da-dum….MEATLOAF CUPCAKES !

( yay ..cheer…yay …Clap- Clap )

This recipe is courtesy of Mrs. Littlefield Boise, Idaho

The first surprise here: there's not a grain of sugar in these cupcakes.
( Yeah , we know that you stupid bitch )

The second surprise: you will love them anyway.
( I would love them more if you didn't steal my idea )

INGREDIENTS:
Meat Loaf:
1 pound lean ground beef ( Not everyone eats beef, so you can substitute morning star crumbles here )

1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs

1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese

3 tablespoons ketchup

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon celery salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Potato Frosting:
3 cups mashed potatoes

Food coloring

Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Line 12 muffin tin cups with foil bake cups.
In a large bowl, mix together all of the meat loaf ingredients. Divide the mixture evenly among the lined cups (the liners should be about three quarters full).
Place the filled muffin tins on cookie sheets and bake the cupcakes for about 15 minutes or until cooked through.
Divide the mashed potatoes among three small bowls and stir a few drops of food coloring into each batch to create blue, yellow, and pink pastel frostings. Spread on each cupcake.

Here is the magic additions - I have one up one you Mrs. Littlefield !
1. Sprinkle a little Lucky Charms or crushed Frosted flakes on top to make a festive presentation.
2. Cut fun shapes out of American cheese and place on top. My favorite is a Pac-Man.
3. Use cooked Spaghetti noodles to create zoo animal faces on the top of your tiny cakes.

I hope that you have enjoyed this recipe - please send me pictures of your dinner if you decide to make them.

Lust For Life

One of my favorite movies ever is playing tomorrow night at the Norton Simon Museum of Art in Pasadena.
Not only does Kirk Douglas offer a fierce portrayal of Vincent van Gogh, filled with immense torment, but also the immanent ear chop is one of the most gruesome in film portrayal. You have to watch it with your eyes shut so that you can hear the skin rip. I know, it's disgusting, but it really is one of the best parts of the movie. The movie also features Anthony Quinn who won best supporting actor in 1956 for the role. Lust for Life explores the ecstasy of art, and the agony of one man's short life.

My mother, the art teacher, has shown this movie to every single class since 1985. So if not for the rip - do it for mom !
